INDIA is a country of diverse history. Many historic sites in India are registered as world heritage sites because of their cultural importance. By visiting the most popular historic sites in India, you will travel back in time to ancient India.

1. Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal located in Agra, in Uttar Pradesh state, about 200 kilometers (125 miles) from Delhi. From a distance, the Taj Mahal looks like a fairytale looms from the banks of the Yamuna. This place is actually a tomb containing the body of Mumtaz Mahal who was the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It was built as an ode to love.

The building that became one of the seven wonders of the world was built from 1630 and can take 22 years and 20,000 workers to complete. Taj Mahal is open every day except Friday, from 6:00 to 19:00 pm local time.

2. Hampi

Hampi in Karnataka, about 350 kilometers (217 miles) from Bangalore. Hampi was once the last capital of Vijayanagar, one of the largest Hindu empire in Indian history. This place has some very charming ruins mixed with large stones in the back of the entire landscape. Fatehpur Sikri is located 40 km (25 miles) from Agra, in Uttar Pradesh. Fatehpur Sikri was once the pride of the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. Fatehpur Sikri now stands empty as a ghost town but well preserved. This place has been abandoned by its inhabitants because of insufficient water supply.

Built of red sandstone, Fatehpur Sikri is full of great palaces and a large yard. You almost can feel the return to medieval here. Fatephur Sikri is open from sunrise to sunset and you only need to provide money to U.S. $ 5 to enter into it.
